Please have your child at the church by 8:15am for the 8:30am service or 10:45am for the 11:00am service. The robes, candlelighters and matches are on the coat rack in the lobby. Matches and candlelighters are on the shelf above the robes.

Acolytes will enter the worship center at the time the ushers deem appropriate. Always check with the head usher at each service for your instructions. They may leave their robes on and sit with their families OR they may take off the robes before returning to their seats. Both acolytes should do the same thing.

At the close of worship the Acolytes will light their candlelighters from the altar candles, extinguish the altar candles, and then carry the lit candlelighters out of the worship center. This symbolizes that we must also carry Christ’s light into the world, that our worship and service never end. Please check with the head usher to ask for directions on when and where to enter the worship center.

Parents are expected to help the children into their robes (there are three sizes of blue robes) and to light the candlelighter. The Acolytes know that the wick of the candlelighter needs to be at about 1". Practice adjusting the wick.

The candlelighters are to be carried at about a 20° angle. When the Acolytes light and extinguish the flames, they are to turn away from each other after the procedure.

After the candles have been lighted, the acolytes are to go out of the worship center by the side aisle. They don’t have to wait for the procession, etc.

If your child is unable to acolyte on his/her scheduled Sunday, please call someone else on the list to try to trade dates. If it’s a last minute cancellation, please call Connie Claes at church (666-3520) or at home (666-5369).
