WELCOME
Welcome to The
Bath Church! If you are a guest with us today, we look forward to giving
you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that you can become
better acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope
that you will join us each Sunday.
PRELUDE:
Praise to the Lord arr. Bish
- As the Prelude
begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -
p CALL TO WORSHIP:
Leader: Come,
children of God and stand before God the Almighty One.
People: Who am
I to stand before the creator of the universe so vast?
Leader: True, we
are but very tiny specks in the sea of 125 billion galaxies.
People: Humbled
I come before a God so mysterious, so powerful.
Leader: This God
of billions of galaxies is also the giver of this day, your life, your very
breath.
People: Great
is the Lord. Amen.
p HYMN OF PRAISE: God You Spin the
Whirling Planets No. 24
p COMMUNITY PRAYER:
God you make some
things so small we cannot see them with our eyes and the universe so vast
that we can only see a small fraction of it. You make things so strong they
exist for 14 billion years and some so fragile as to exist less than a day.
You make us humans with minds that can create and destroy, learn and forget,
reason and intuit, imagine and sleep. Who are you, source of all, mystery of
mystery? Who are we and how dare we imagine that our life is our own or
worse yet that we are your equal?
In silence we
bring our personal prayers ….
p PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace of
Christ be with you."
p RESPONSE RESPONSE: Lord, We Lift
Your Name on High No.88
Lord, I lift
your name on high. Lord. I love to sing your praises.
I’m so glad
you’re in my life. I’m so glad you came to save us.
You came from
heaven to earth to show the way, from the earth to the cross,
My debt to
pay; from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky,
Lord, I lift
your name on high.

June is
"Torture Awareness Month"
"There is
no such thing as a little bit of torture."
-- Alfred
W. McCoy, author "A Question of Torture: CIA Interrogation, from the
Cold War to the War on Terror"
The familiar and disturbing pictures of torture at Iraq's Abu Ghraib
prison raise many troubling questions: How did torture become an
accepted practice at Abu Ghraib? Did U.S. government policies make
it possible? How much damage has the aftermath of Abu Ghraib had on
America's credibility as a defender of freedom and human rights
around the world?
Acclaimed filmmaker Rory Kennedy (HBO's "Indian Point: Imagining the
Unimaginable") looks beyond the headlines to investigate the
psychological and political context in which torture occurred when
the powerful documentary GHOSTS OF ABU GHRAIB.

2008 BATH CHURCH
BOUTIQUE WCF is excited to announce the dates of our Bath Church
Boutique. This event is a revitalization of our beloved Country Fair and
will be held on October 24-25, 2008. We will be continuing all the things we
love such as our fabulous items from the Crafty Ladies, the wonderful lunch,
the book sale and of course the bake sale. We will be adding a few new guest
artists and refreshing the layout. We are looking for someone (men included)
to co-chair this event. As you know, the money raised at our fair is used to
make wonderful things happen. This year Royal Family Kids’ Camp and our new
portable sound system are just a few of the items we were able to donate.
Please prayerfully consider taking a role in the continuation of a Bath
Church tradition with a twist. If you would like more information, please
contact Danielle Cadnum at 330.239.0571 or
daniellecadnum@yahoo.com.
