Meet Rev.
Jim Cunningham - Associate Pastor
|
|
Ordained in 1971, Jim began his
ministry with Bath Church in August, 2001. A graduate of Heidelberg College
(B.A., Psychology, 1968), and Lancaster Theological Seminary (M. Div., 1971),
Jim’s previous ministries include 8 years in parish ministry and 22 years in
healthcare ministry. As a hospital chaplain, he has extensive experience in
virtually all fields of medicine; he is nationally recognized for his expertise
in perinatal pastoral care (ministry involving crisis in pregnancy, birth, and
early infancy).
As Associate Pastor, Jim provides and
coordinates pastoral care ministries in addition to assisting in the general
ministry of the church. He also writes and distributes the church’s weekly
email newsletter, “Splashes from Bath.” Jim is an outstanding public
speaker and is available to speak to churches, community groups, professional
groups, etc. See the list below of possible speaking topics.
Jim and his wife, Charlene Battiato,
share five children in a blended family and two dogs. In addition to his
ministry, Jim loves God’s awesome grace, the gift of each day, movies, theater,
music, computers, time with his family, being a cancer survivor, and laughing.

STEPHEN MINISTRY IS… a ministry of our congregation that equips select lay persons to provide
distinctively Christian one-to-one care to adults who are experiencing all
kinds of life needs and circumstances.
STEPHEN MINISTERS…
Visit another person regularly (at minimum weekly) and dependably
offering Christian care through listening, supporting, encouraging, and
praying.
Maintain confidentiality sharing neither the identity of their care
receiver nor any details of the person’s life or sharing.
Compassionate, full of faith, skilled, trustworthy, trained, &
supervised.
Are not a counselor or therapist, a problem-solver, a casual
visitor
CARE RECEIVERS…
People coping with change, stress, and/or loss such as death,
divorce, retirement, unemployment, change in health, empty nest, recent
move, new job, spiritual crisis, new marriage, birth of a child,
entering a caregiving role with a family member, etc.
People who may very well be able to work things through alone.
However, they probably could work through it much better, faster, or
with less stress with the help and support of a Stephen Minister.
REFERRALS…
If you or someone you know might benefit from a Stephen Minister,
contact our Stephen Leaders, Joan and Harry Albrecht, or speak with one
of the pastors. Encourage others who might benefit from this ministry to
contact the Stephen Leaders or Pastor.
