WELCOME AND WORDS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST

Welcome to The Bath Church on this Sunday in Epiphany as we celebrate the manifestation of gifts in the art that surrounds us. We welcome those who are guests with us today. We look forward to giving you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that you can become better acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us each Sunday.

PRELUDE: Prelude in G Minor Bach

- As the Prelude begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -

INRTOIT: I’m a Happy Christian

p CALL TO WORSHIP:

Leader: God is forever calling us --

People: calling us from darkness to light;

Leader: calling us from where we are to where we should be;

People: calling us from despair to hope;

Leader: calling us from aimlessness to purpose;

People: calling us from silence to witness.

All: Come, let us worship together and hear that call!

p HYMN OF PRAISE: When Morning Gilds the Skies No. 111

p COMMUNITY PRAYER:

Most glorious God, you brought your radiant light to brighten our sin-darkened world in the person of Jesus. Let his brilliance shine upon us again this day: that, our lives divinely illuminated by his wonderful presence, we may find our gloom raised to glory and our darkness turned to dawn. In his most holy name we pray. Amen.

In silence we bring our prayers of confession….

p SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE • PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace of Christ be with you."

p RESPONSE: The First Noel (Tune) No. 229

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That has made heaven and earth of naught,
And with his grace our lives have sought.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

STEPHEN MINISTERS CARE

When was the last time someone really listened to you? We’re talking about that undistracted, full attention kind of listening. That’s one of the ways Stephen Ministers care for others. We are looking for more Stephen Ministers in Bath Church to help care for those who are making the long Journey through the valley of a life crisis. Will you consider serving in this way? A new class is being formed. For more information, call the Roegers 330-688-2331.

LIBERIA, WEST AFRICA MISSION TRIP: Bath Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church are sponsoring a 9 day trip to Liberia in West Africa, June 5 to 14, 2008. This is a "Friendship Trip" to meet and to build relationships with Christian friends in this small nation. We will visit the capital, Monrovia, stay up country at Cuttington University where we plan to do a small work project, and we’ll visit the home village of Paul Sulongteh, member of Mt. Zion Baptist. The cost is estimated at $3,000 per person. We need to know who is interested and able to go by January 31. If interested, contact Rev Mark Frey or Paul & Pearl Sulongteh, 330-836-5390.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 18! We are having a world-renown magician, Rick Smith, Jr., come do a fund-raising show for us at Revere High School. Rick has generously agreed to donate half of the proceeds from the show to RFKC, so we’re hoping this will be a major fund-raiser for us. Watch for more information on this, but for now, save the date!!!

THANKS, AND THANKS AGAIN!! What better time of the year – when we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day – than to thank the many volunteers who serve in the Bath Church Samaritan Ministry. These caring individuals give much of their time to visit our church members in nursing homes, hospitals, and residences. Our Samaritans also provide food and transportation whenever needed, and they send cards to those recovering from illness and surgery and those who are grieving. Having just experienced our Bath Church Epiphany Arts Festival, we are reminded of God’s gifts given to each of us. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he writes: "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to us …. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouragement, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully." -- Romans 12:6-8

The following Samaritan volunteers will be honored at a Sweetheart Brunch in the Bath Church Community Room, Saturday, February 16th, starting at 9:30 AM: Mary Nilsen, Wendy Bartlett, Jean , Hungerford, Marian Palmer, Ingrid Fuller, Joyce Patterson, Candace Boelter, Nancy Bolender, Ed Steinmark, Sarah Steinmark, Ruth Sprang, Julie Magoline, Jim Weckbacher, Lori Nelson, Marilyn Woodling, Jerry Woodling, Marilyn Andreeff, Ann Winland, Carolyn Grinter, Phyllis Henry, Jackie Bettick, Judy Rica, Jane Weingart, Margee Frey, Linda Lyons, Pamela Simpson, Sally Phillips, Ann Drennon, Heraldine Long, Gayle Phelps, Margo Works, Carol Button, Karen Clark, Martha Salem, Hersh Grinter, Lisa Nischt, Chris Cole, Cathy Cole. If you are interested in joining this caring ministry we welcome new members. Please call the church office for more information
