WELCOME AND WORDS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST
Welcome to The Bath Church on this Sunday in Epiphany. As we remember
Jesus calling the disciples, we reflect on our call to welcome others into
the community of faith. If you are a guest with us today, we look forward
to giving you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that you can
become better acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we
hope that you will join us each Sunday.
PRELUDE: Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves Me
- As the Prelude begins, let us with silence prepare our
hearts for worship -
p CALL TO WORSHIP:
Leader: Our Lord calls us to
turn from the past and to be his special people.
People: Jesus calls us to
find in him joy and meaning, a new life here and now.
Leader: And Jesus promises us
eternal life in the world to come.
People: We come to worship
the Son, who is Lord of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
p HYMN OF PRAISE: We’re Marching to
Zion No. 390
p
COMMUNITY PRAYER:
Welcoming God, we remember Jesus’ call to his disciples who dropped
everything and followed him. Help us to remember your faithful disciples
of this age who invited us to come to your church and to receive the
blessings of your grace and love. As we celebrate your goodness, move us
to offer extravagant welcome to those who need or want to know you. This
we pray in the Name of Jesus who welcomes us as your loving children.
Amen.
In silence we bring our prayers of confession….
p SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE •
PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace of Christ be with you."
p RESPONSE: Tune: The First Noel

And with his grace our lives have sought.

The Rev. David Schoen – Sunday, January 27... you won’t
want to miss his outstanding preaching and his experienced
leadership in "local church vitality." Plan now to hear him preach
"Let It Shine" on Sun. Jan. 27. Dave will address the issue of
"buzz marketing" and "creating a buzz for God." And, plan to
attend his forum presentation: "Ready, Set, Grow - Local Church
Vitality" at 9:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. The Rev. David Schoen, a
member of Bath Church, serves on the UCC National Staff as the Minister
and Team Leader for Evangelism, Local Church Ministries. He is the
co-ordinator for the National UCC Local Church Vitality Initiative.
David has preached and led workshops on church vitality throughout the
United States and has visited many of the most vital congregations in
the UCC. At Bath he serves as a "head greeter" once a month at the
11 a.m. service, and participates as an overnight host with the
Inter-Faith Hospitality Network. Prior to joining the national UCC
staff in 2000, David was the Senior Pastor at Trinity UCC in Canton,
Ohio. UNDIES SUNDAY: January Sunday School Mission Project.
Donations of NEW undies, boxer briefs, socks and T-shirts for children
and youth will be collected in a box on each floor of the Christian
Education wing during the month of January. All sizes, from toddler to
adult XL, are needed. This Sunday School Mission Project will benefit
the children and youth who attend the Lighthouse of Hope after school
program which our church supports.
LIBERIA, WEST AFRICA MISSION TRIP: Bath Church and Mt. Zion
Baptist Church are sponsoring a 9 day trip to Liberia in West Africa,
June 5 to 14, 2008. This is a "Friendship Trip" to meet and to build
relationships with Christian friends in this small nation. We will visit
the capital, Monrovia, stay up country at Cuttington University where we
plan to do a small work project, and we’ll visit the home village of
Paul Sulongteh, member of Mt. Zion Baptist. The cost is estimated at
$3,000 per person. We need to know who is interested and able to go by
January 31. If interested, contact Rev Mark Frey or Paul & Pearl
Sulongteh, 330-836-5390.
CHRISTIAN ED IS IN NEED OF A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER! The need is
in a small kindergarten class. It would be on a once month rotation
basis until May (only 4-5 times total). For more information or to
offer, please call Betsy Painting at 334-2232 or Debbie Casanova at
665-4919. Thank you for your consideration of the fun, rewarding
volunteer position!
