The Third Sunday in Lent

February 24, 2008

WELCOME AND WORDS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST

Welcome to The Bath Church on this Third Sunday in Lent. We especially welcome those who are guests with us today. We look forward to giving you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that you can become better acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us each Sunday.

PRELUDE: Prayer Jacques Lemmens

- As the Prelude begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -

INTROIT: Go Tell It On the Mountain

p CALL TO WORSHIP:

Leader: God reveals Godself

People: not to the person who is self-sufficient or self-righteous

Leader: but to the one whose mind is open

People: whose will is receptive

Leader: and whose soul is humble. In that spirit…

All: Let us come in worship before the Lord

p HYMN OF PRAISE: In Christ There Is No East or West No. 603

p COMMUNITY PRAYER:

God of healing love, we read how the early Christians devoted themselves to your teachings, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. We realize how much we have neglected the kind of spiritual community portrayed in scripture. Forgive us and fill us with your Spirit of love and harmony. Teach us to look beyond our own interests and towards the fellowship and sharing you have called us to. Amen

In silence we bring our prayers of confession….

p SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE • PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace of Christ be with you."

p RESPONSE: Ubi Caritas et Amor No. 399

Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas Deus ibi est.

Where true charity and love abide, God is dwelling there; God is dwelling there.

ANTHEM: Grant O God, Your Blessings Bedford

SCRIPTURE READING: Exodus 17:1-7 Old Testament pg. 59-60
