Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us each Sunday.

CALL TO WORSHIP:

Leader: Christ promised that he would not leave his followers alone.

People: Praise God for God’s presence with us now and always.

Leader: Christ promised that because he lives, we will live also.

People: Praise God for Christ’s living presence in our lives.

All: Come, let us worship the God of all creation made known to us in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

p HYMN OF PRAISE: I Sing the Almighty Power of God No. 31

p COMMUNITY PRAYER:

Loving God, forgive us when inner distractions interrupt our worship, and coldness of heart quenches your Spirit. Help us to focus our undivided attention on your divine Word, and warm our hearts with your Holy Spirit that we might be drawn closer to you. This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

In silence we bring our prayers of confession….

p PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace of Christ be with you."

p RESPONSE: Lord I Lift Your Name on High No. 88

Lord, I lift your name on high. Lord. I love to sing your praises.

I’m so glad you’re in my life. I so glad you came to save us.

You came from heaven to earth to show the way, from the earth to the cross,

My debt to pay; from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky,

Lord, I lift your name on high.

MEETING RESISTANCE focuses the spotlight on the "other side", clarifying why the violence in Iraq continues to this day and providing a deeper understanding of both the toll of occupation and the human condition of resistance.
