WELCOME AND WORDS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST

Welcome to The Bath Church on this Third Sunday in Advent. Today we light the candle of Love and focus upon the angels in the birth story of Jesus. If you are a guest with us today we welcome you and look forward to giving you a “Welcome Bag” as you leave the sanctuary so that you can become better acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us each Sunday.

PRELUDE: The First Noel C. Dobrinski

- As the Prelude begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -

INTROIT Jesu, Candlelight Carol

LIGHTING THE ADVENT WREATHE: (8:30) The Hunt Family; (11:00) The Bowers Family

p CALL TO WORSHIP:

Leader: God is still speaking.

People: Yes, we hear that from the United Church of Christ.

Leader: No, God IS still speaking! Through the angels and the gift of Jesus!

People: Then we’d better listen!

Leader: Yes, God speaks to us and calls us to lives of faith and service.

People: Come, Lord, speak your news to us in this time of worship.

p HYMN OF PRAISE: O Come, All Ye Faithful No. 182

p COMMUNITY PRAYER:

Loving God, throughout history you have taken people unaware and unsettled them with your extraordinary acts. Open us to your unpredictable workings; that, when confronted with divine activity, we shall be more ready and willing to set aside our petty plans and priorities for your grand and gracious goals. In the name of the Coming One we pray. Amen.

In silence we bring our prayers of confession….

p SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE • PASSING GOD’S PEACE: “May the peace of Christ be with you.”

p RESPONSE: How Great Our Joy (vs. 3) No. 200

There shall the Child lie in a stall, this Child who shall redeem us all.

How great our joy! (echo) Great our joy! Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!

Praise we the Lord in heaven on high! Praise we the Lord in heaven on high!
