INTEREST
Today we begin the Advent
journey towards Bethlehem and the joyous Christmas celebration. Advent is
the four weeks before Christmas marked with expectation that a great
things is about to happen. Thank you for coming to share in this journey!
We are especially thankful for those who are guests with us today. We look
forward to giving you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that
you can become better acquainted with us. We hope that you will join us
each Sunday.

OF THANKSGIVING AND THE LORD’S PRAYER:
Eternal God,
you have called your people from the east and west and north and south to
feast at the table of Jesus Christ. We thank you for Christ’s presence and
for the spiritual food of Christ’s body and blood. By the power of your
Holy Spirit, keep us faithful to your will. Go with us to the streets, to
our homes, and to our places of labor and leisure that whether we are
gathered or scattered, we may be the servant church of the servant Christ,

PARENTS TO USE OUR NURSERIES: We have two nurseries, both located on the
2nd floor. Room 209 is for infants through 18 months and Room 207
is for toddlers 18 months to 3 years (for your child’s safety, a pager must
be used while your child is in child care). Children 4 years through 1st
grade may go to the Care Room after the children’s moment. It’s located on
the second floor in Room 204. If at any time you need assistance, please
speak to one of the ushers.

POINSETTIAS:
Orders for memorial poinsettias will be taken on TODAY and Sunday,
December 9. Double stem plants are $12 and triple stem plants are $16.
Please place your order with an altar guild member sitting at a table in
the narthex. The memorials will be listed in the bulletin on Sundays
December 16 and 23.
THE MESSIAH CONCERT IS TODAY!
Tom Clark will be selling tickets in the Narthex between services. There
should also be tickets available at the door. Tickets are $20 each for
all ages. You may pay by cash, check or credit card. Please realize that
we will have guests from the community with us and they are unaware of
your Sunday morning seating assignments. As a result, you may want to
arrive early if you have a seating preference! The concert begins
promptly at 3 PM.
There will be one 15 minute intermission and the concert should conclude
by about 4:45 PM.
KNITTING
MINISTRY
meets Monday at 9:00am in the Bridal Room. Come us join us for knitting
and fellowship!
THE MICAH 6:8
GROUP has
invited Ann Hanson, the UCC Minister for Children, Families and Human
Sexuality Advocacy, to speak at our next meeting. She's the person in
charge of the sexuality education and justice programs from the national
office at the Church House in Cleveland. Our meeting is Tuesday,
December 4, at 7:00 pm in room 202. Anyone interested is welcome.

CHRISTMAS BASKETS
will be assembled on Tuesday, December 4 from 7:00-9:00pm. If you
see anything when you’re out and about that may be a good item to
include in the baskets for our elderly, please pick it up and you will
be reimbursed (questions, contact Gayle Phelps 330-239-6609. Items that
we have purchased in the past are pencils, pens, hard candies,
calendars, large print books, and hot chocolate packets.
SALVATION ARMY
BELL
RINGING is
next Saturday December 8th at Sam's Club in Montrose. As of last
Wednesday, we had 3 open spots. We need two volunteers for 1-2 PM, 5-6
PM and one additional person for 7-8 PM. We would like to have at least
two individuals or a family for each one hour time slot. It is a
wonderful way for a family to spend some time together and teach your
children the idea of service to others. Please sign up today. If you
have questions, contact chairman Alex Balogh.
JOIN US FOR A LAST
MINUTE 'GET CAUGHT UP'
for Christmas with the Evening Women's Group. On Thursday, December 13
at 7:00pm in the *
(Hospitality room) you can bring your gifts to wrap, cards to
address or your gift list and finish your shopping. Babysitting will be
available if needed, just let us know. Please bring an appetizer or
dessert to share and let's enjoy some good company while finishing up

GIVING TREE: This will be
the last Sunday to select tags from the Giving Tree which is located in
the narthex. Your $25 gift will help an individual, ranging from
newborn to elderly, to have a more joyous Christmas. The gifts will go
to people in our community without homes or income, battered women and
men, and children with parents unable to provide financial support.
Please return your wrapped gift to the Community Room on SUNDAY,
DECEMBER 9 BY NOON. Please SECURELY TAPE YOUR TAG to the outside of the
gift.
MITTEN
TREE: December
Sunday School Mission Project -
We’ll be collecting donations of mittens, gloves, scarves and hats for
the children and youth who attend the after school program at Lighthouse
of Hope. There is a great need for these items to help warm the
children. Please bring your donations in during December and place them
on the Christmas trees located on both floors of the Ch. Ed. wing of the
church.
BREAKFAST
with SANTA: Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9:00am – 11:00am: The Christian Education Board is hosting a
Breakfast with Santa event and we’re inviting the young and young at
heart to attend together. At the breakfast the children will visit with
Santa and have their picture taken, make a craft, and watch the video of
the Legend of the Candy Cane. They’ll also have a great breakfast!
Look for our display and ticket table in the Narthex on Dec. 2. Tickets
are also available at the door on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tickets are $5 per
person or $20 per family.

MILLER
AVENUE MISSION PARTNERSHIP:
On Sunday, December 30, 2007 the Miller Avenue Mission will serve dinner
and celebrate Fifth Sunday Service at 4:30 pm. Bath Church will help
prepare the meal and serve. Anyone interested in helping should contact
Lynne Dowling (330 666 6020) or Dom Pica (330 666 2666). Everyone is
invited to attend the service and dinner. During the Thanksgiving week
Bath Church helped supply over one thousand pounds of food from the
Akron Canton Regional Food Bank and about 175 frozen turkeys to
residents of Summit Lake. About 200 Thanksgiving baskets were packaged
and delivered to families in the are who love below the poverty
level. Our partnership mission at Miller Avenue is in the process of
making plans for 2008. Lunch On Us will continue to be served on the
last two Saturdays of the month. A special service and dinner is served
on the fifth Sunday of the month. In addition, a wide variety of support
programs are planned for those in need. Come get involved.
