WORDS OF WELCOME AND COMMUNITY
INTEREST
Welcome to The Bath Church on
this first Sunday in November. Today we welcome new members into our
congregation as we celebrate communion together around the Lord’s Table,
which is open to all who seek to follow Jesus. On this Sunday after All
Saints Day, we remember the saints of God in all generations. We welcome
those who are guests with us today and we look forward to giving you a
"Welcome Bag" as you leave the sanctuary so that you can become better
acquainted with us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you
will join us each Sunday.
PRELUDE: The Sure
Foundation Arnold Sherman
- As the Prelude
begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -
p
CALL TO WORSHIP: (from Revelation 7:9-10)
Leader: There was a great
multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes
and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the
Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out
in a loud voice, saying:
People: "Salvation belongs
to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!"
Leader: Come, Saints of
God, come worship the God of our salvation!
People: We gather as the
faithful with voices from centuries past and those here today to give
God our praise and glory!
p
HYMN OF PRAISE: For All The Saints No. 529
p
COMMUNITY PRAYER: The Apostles’ Creed (modern)
I believe in God, the
Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third
day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right
hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.
In silence we bring our
prayers of confession….

Eternal God,
you have called your people from the east and west and north and south to
feast at the table of Jesus Christ. We thank you for Christ’s presence and
for the spiritual food of Christ’s body and blood. By the power of your
Holy Spirit, keep us faithful to your will. Go with us to the streets, to
our homes, and to our places of labor and leisure that whether we are
gathered or scattered, we may be the servant church of the servant Christ,
who taught us to pray together: "Our Father…."
