Welcome to The Bath Church on
this Reformation Sunday as we celebrate our church heritage and our
relationship with the wider church. We welcome our Eastern Ohio
Association Minister, the Rev. David Cleaver-Bartholomew to our pulpit. If
you are a guest with us today we look forward to greeting you and to
giving you a "Welcome Bag" so that you can become better acquainted with
us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us
each Sunday.

October 24, 2007 to Heather and Joshua Alm in Columbus, Ohio.
The Rev. David
Cleaver-Bartholomew: We welcome David to our pulpit this morning. David
is our Eastern Ohio Association Minister of the United Church of Christ,
having served us now for two years. He came to us from Detroit, Michigan
where he was an Associate Professor of Biblical Hebrew at the University of
Detroit. He received a Doctor of Philosophy in Religion from Claremont
Graduate University, Claremont, California in 1998. He earned a Master of
Arts in Religion degree at Claremont, 1993 and his Master of Divinity from
Yale in 1988. His Bachelor of Arts is from Southern Methodist University,
Dallas, Texas in 1982. Despite all these degrees, we fondly call him David
C-B and appreciate his leadership in our Association. David is married to
Dena, who is an Episcopal priest. They have two daughters and live in
Jackson Township in Stark County.

WE ENCOURAGE
PARENTS TO USE OUR NURSERIES: We have two nurseries, both located on the
2nd floor. Room 209 is for infants through 18 months and Room 207
is for toddlers 18 months to 3 years (for your child’s safety, a pager must
be used while your child is in child care). Children 4 years through 1st
grade may go to the Care Room after the children’s moment. It’s located on
the second floor in Room 204. If at any time you need assistance, please
speak to one of the ushers.

THE DORCAS GUILD has
planned a Field Trip and will visit the Haven of Rest on Thursday,
November 1, 2007. We will meet at Bath Church at 9:15 a.m.
and will depart from Bath Church at 9: 30 a.m. Plenty of
rides will be available. The program at the Haven of Rest will
begin at 10:00 a.m. Please bring your own sandwich for lunch, but
drinks and desserts will be served. We hope that many of you will
be able to attend this very informative and interesting tour.
COOKIES NEEDED: Remember to
also bring your cookies for the Chapel Hill Retirement Home to the Bath
Church on Thursday, November 1 before catching a ride to the Haven of
Rest. Martha Salem will be there to receive them. Any questions:

THE BATH CHURCH EVENING
WOMEN'S GROUP INVITES YOU to attend a CAbi trunk show on
Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Fellowship Hall. It
will feature the designs of Carol Anderson. 10% of the sales at the
event will be donated to the Royal Family Kids Camp. 'Smart Dressing for
Your Body Type' will be discussed by Tricia Tipping, CAbi Consultant,
followed by an opportunity to try on the sample line. Please RSVP by

clean-up. Then we’ll have fun together in the Community Room until

MEN’S BREAKFAST is this
Saturday, Nov 3 in Fellowship Hall with coffee at 8am and breakfast at
8:30am (Cooks: Arne Hosbach & Bill Thomas). Our speaker is Rev David
Cleaver-Bartholomew from the Eastern Ohio Association UCC. He will talk
to us just before the EOA meeting in our sanctuary.

FLU VACCINE WILL BE
ADMINISTERED TODAY October 28th between services
in the Church Library. $30.00 for Flu Vaccine - No charge to patients
with Medicare Part B, a Medicare HMO or SummaCare.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HOME
VISITS ARE UNDERWAY - More than 50 fellow members have volunteered
their time as Ambassadors and Leaders in a massive effort to visit every
member household of Bath Church.
In the next few weeks you
should expect to hear from an Ambassador. Please open your doors,
your minds and your hearts to this volunteer. If you are not
contacted by October 29th, please alert us so we can rectify the
oversight and get your pledge package to you. Our goal is to
have all pledges in by November 15th.
If you are a seasonal
resident and will be leaving soon for a warmer winter climate, please
contact the church so we can schedule the Ambassador’s visit before you
leave.
ACME RECEIPT BOXES OUT:
Save your Acme Store receipts from September through March to help our
youth programming. Boxes are out in the narthex areas.
WCF CRAFT NIGHT on
Friday, November 23 from 5:00pm to midnight. Come join us in Fellowship
Hall as we make Christmas cards (40) for the Christmas baskets that we
make every year for our homebound friends.
EOA/WRA MEETING: This
Saturday, November 3, we are hosting the Eastern Ohio and Western
Reserve Association Meetings HERE at Bath Church. About 300 friends from
NE Ohio UCC churches will be here from 9am to 3:00pm. The highlight will
be the worship service at 10am. If you want to attend worship, just come
and share with the UCC family. If you can volunteer, contact Dom Pica
330-666-2666 or call the church office.
WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY
with Pastor Mark "Journey Through the BIBLE: Luke": 1:30pm
and 7:00pm each Wednesday in the Community Room. The evening class is
preparing to again have a salad/soup supper at 6:30pm before class.

Jim Cunningham, Associate Pastor, will be attending a two day workshop, Nov.
16-17, in Cleveland on "Church Vitality Training." He will learn about
extensive resources for growing vitality in congregations. Themes
include: Visionary Leadership, Discerning the Congregation’s
Calling-Mission, Nurturing Faith and Fostering Discipleship, Hope-filled
Worship, Building Local & Global Witnessing, Inspiring Generosity,
Extravagant Welcome, Knowing the Community and Culture.
We would appreciate your (each adult & high school student) taking a moment
to complete the six questions on the other side of this page. Your
answers will help Jim at the workshop and help the church leadership map out
Vitality plans for the New Year.
Please place the completed form in the baskets at the exits to the
sanctuary.
