WELCOME AND WORDS OF COMMUNITY
INTEREST
Welcome to The Bath Church!
This Sunday we receive our Fall Mission Appeal that will go to support the
Miller Ave UCC Outreach Ministry. We have the Rev. Tom Gerstenlaurer, our
Mission Developer, with us today to tell us about this work in Christ’s
Name. If you are a guest with us today, we welcome you and look forward to
giving you a "Welcome Bag" so that you can become better acquainted with
us. Thank you for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us
each Sunday.
MISSION MOMENT: Miller Ave UCC
Mission Tom Clark & Rev. Tom Gerstenlaurer
PRELUDE: Beautiful Savior
J. Van Kley
- As the Prelude
begins, let us with silence prepare our hearts for worship -
p
CALL TO WORSHIP:
Leader: There is one God and
Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.
People: For all who are led
by the spirit of God are children of God.
Leader: Come, walk in the way
of the Lord with songs of gladness and joy.
People: We come to worship
God who makes us whole and binds us together in One Spirit. Amen.
p
HYMN OF PRAISE: Morning Has Broken No. 35
p
COMMUNITY PRAYER:
Almighty God, we too often go
about life feeling sorry for ourselves because we think we must face all
our difficulties alone. How foolish we are, Lord, for we are never alone.
You are always with us. Forgive us our foolish ways and help us to realize
and to recognize your presence with us. Help us in our prayers to talk
with you each day: to acknowledge your abiding love and to invite you to
walk with us in the challenges and joys we face. For when we are together,
amazing things happen in Your Name. Amen. In silence we bring our
prayers of confession….
p
SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE • PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace
of Christ be with you."
p
RESPONSE: Alleluia No. 1 No. 291
Alleluia,
alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord,
Alleluia,
alleluia! Give praise to his name!

Fellowship Hall. Come get some great gifts and holiday items!!!
BATH CHURCH WILL HOST
the VNS Hospice Memorial Service in the sanctuary, Sunday October
21 at 4:00 p.m.
FALL APPEAL: Our
Mission Board is asking you to prayerfully consider a generous gift to
help those in our community who have little and need much. After much
discussion, we feel that the 2007 Fall Appeal should be used to benefit
the works at Miller Avenue UCC and the Summit Lake Mission Outreach.
This program is growing in so many ways and it has become glaringly
apparent of the need. Just 10 miles from our beautiful church campus is
this facility in the midst of poverty, despair, homelessness, hunger and
pain. Without the financial and physical efforts of Bath Church and
other area churches, this project would quickly fail. They truly need
our help in the form of works, dollars and prayers.
OPEN CHURCH WEDDING:
Tom and Karen Clark would be pleased to have you join them on
Saturday October 27th at 4 PM in the Sanctuary of The Bath Church
for the Wedding of their daughter Jennifer Clark and Grant Miller.
Unfortunately space limitations (of both the hall and Dad's wallet!)
prevent us from holding an open reception, but we hope you can join us
to share in the joy of the ceremony.
COLLECTING YOUR NEW AND GENTLY USED SWIMSUITS: The Mission Board
is helping Firestone High School Senior Charlie Wagner with his drive to
collect children's swimsuits. The suits will be used for children in the
Akron Public Schools. Lincoln Elementary School in Akron is the only
Akron elementary school that has a pool. While lessons are available for
all APS elementary students, many are unable to take lessons - as they
don't have a swim suit. Please place your donation in our "indoor pool"
in the Narthex.
2ND LIEUTENANT
JIM WHITMORE, son of Mark & Susan Whitmore is stationed in Korea. It
would be nice if we could shower him with birthday cards for his
birthday on October 31. This will be his first Thanksgiving and
Christmas away from family. His address is 2nd Lt. James
Whitmore

interested in membership at Bath Church, please come and get acquainted.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HOME
VISITS ARE UNDERWAY - More than 50 fellow members have volunteered
their time as Ambassadors and Leaders in a massive effort to visit every
member household of Bath Church.
In the next few weeks you
should expect to hear from an Ambassador. Please open your doors,
your minds and your hearts to this volunteer. If you are not
contacted by October 29th, please alert us so we can rectify the
oversight and get your pledge package to you. Our goal is to have
all pledges in by November 15th.
If you are a seasonal
resident and will be leaving soon for a warmer winter climate, please
contact the church so we can schedule the Ambassador’s visit before you
leave.
CHURCH PHONE DIRECTORIES
AVAILABLE TODAY in the narthex. Please advise the church office of
any corrections or additions 330-666-3520 or bathucc@bathucc.org.
WE NEED SUNDAY MORNING
HOSTS, AND HOSTESSES...It’s time to sign up for our Sunday AM coffee
hour. The sign up sheet for Fall is in the servery kitchen. A class in
making coffee in our pots will be held between services in early
October. This is a wonderful ministry and a way to meet new friends.
Thanks! Joan Mockbee, Martha Salem, Jane Weingart & Shirley Taylor
CLOTHING DRIVE: September &
October Sunday School Mission Project: Join us in providing gently
used clothing, shoes, boots and coats for the children and youth who
stay temporarily at Harvest Home (Haven of Rest). Bins for donations
will be placed on both floors of the main Christian Education wing. What
a great incentive to go through your kid’s clothes and donate the ones
they’ve outgrown.
THE FIDELIS GUILD will
meet in the home opf Jackie Bettick on Thursday, November 15th,
at 9:30am. We will be discussing Chapter Three of "When All You’ve Ever
Wanted Isn’t Enough,: by Rabb Kushner. Lunch will follow. Join us! For
information or a ride, call Karen Elliott (666-0708) or Carol Button
(867-0717)

youth programming. Boxes are out in the narthex areas.

record her concert at Bath Church on September 22nd. We have CD's

Kids Camp for 2008. |
