WELCOME & WORDS OF COMMUNITY
INTEREST
Welcome to The Bath Church on
this Sunday in Kingdomtide. We especially welcome those who are guests
with us today. We look forward to giving you a "Welcome Bag" as you leave
the sanctuary so that you can become better acquainted with us. Thank you
for coming to worship, and we hope that you will join us each Sunday.

CALL TO WORSHIP:
Leader: Are you in
love?
People: What?
Leader: Are you "in
love?"
People: With whom?
Leader: With God as
revealed in Jesus Christ.
People: I love God.
Leader: But, are you
"in love" with God? God is "in love" with you!
People: Really?
Wow.
Leader: Come to Jesus.
Be embraced in his grace!
People:
Overwhelmed with gratitude, let us give praise and thanks to God!
p
HYMN OF PRAISE: God of the Sparrow No. 29
p
COMMUNITY PRAYER:
We confess, O God, that we
take your love, your blessings for granted, or as an entitlement. We
distance ourselves by focusing on beliefs rather than a relationship.
We too often act like we don’t need you or any one else. Forgive us
our arrogance. Help up to see our own sinfulness and utter
dependence on your grace. Help us to see ourselves and others as
holy based on the gift of your being "in love" with us all.
(In silence we offer you our
personal prayers of confession...)
Amen.
p
SILENT PRAYER • WORDS OF ASSURANCE • PASSING GOD’S PEACE: "May the peace
of Christ be with you."
p
RESPONSE: Alleluia No. 1 No. 291
Alleluia,
alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord,
Alleluia,
alleluia! Give praise to his name!
Come, let us
praise the living God, joyfully sing to our Savior. (Refrain)

THE EVENING WOMEN’S GROUP
is hosting the 2nd Annual Fall Family Fun Outing at Walsh Farms
on Sunday, October 14th at 4:00pm. Please join us for a lot
of fun at Walsh Farm in Doylestown. There are many things for the kids
to do here; a petting zoo, a straw maze, a corn "sand" box, hayrides,
train rides and more!! There are hot food and drinks available at the
farm. You can pick your own pumpkins, too! Some activities are free and
others are $2-3. Admission is free, parking is $2.00. Go to
www.walshfarmsinc.com for more info and a map to the farm. Any

MICAH MOVIE -
Sat, October 20, 2007 at 7pm in Community Room:
"The Saint of 9/11" The Gentle Life of a Priest, Made Famous in Death:
"Saint of 9/11" is a touching elegy for the Rev. Mychal Judge, the
much-loved New York City Fire Department chaplain who was one of the
first to die at the World Trade Center when debris fell on his head as
he was following firefighters into the lobby of the north tower.
Although the film makes tentative gestures toward being a full-blown
biographical portrait, it isn’t that. Directed by Glenn Holsten and
narrated by Ian McKellen in a stately, funereal voice, it is a tender
memorial to a complicated man who devoted his life to service.
BATH CHURCH WILL HOST
the VNS Hospice Memorial Service in the sanctuary, Sunday October
21 at 4:00 p.m.
COLLECTING YOUR NEW AND GENTLY USED SWIMSUITS: The Mission Board
is helping Firestone High School Senior Charlie Wagner with his drive to
collect children's swimsuits. The suits will be used for children in the
Akron Public Schools. Lincoln Elementary School in Akron is the only
Akron elementary school that has a pool. While lessons are available for
all APS elementary students, many are unable to take lessons - as they
don't have a swim suit. Please place your donation in our "indoor pool"
in the Narthex.
ACME RECEIPT BOXES OUT:
Save your Acme Store receipts from September through March to help our
youth programming. Boxes are out in the narthex areas.

WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY with
Pastor Mark "Journey Through the BIBLE: Luke": 1:30pm and
7:00pm each Wednesday in the Community Room. The evening class is
preparing to again have a salad/soup supper at 6:30pm before class.
WEDNESDAY BOOK STUDY with
Pastor Jim:
The Honest to God Church: A
Pathway to God’s Grace by Doug Bixby. 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
FALL APPEAL: Our
Mission Board is asking you to prayerfully consider a generous gift to
help those in our community who have little and need much. After much
discussion, we feel that the 2007 Fall Appeal should be used to benefit
the works at Miller Avenue UCC and the Summit Lake Mission Outreach.
This program is growing in so many ways and it has become glaringly
apparent of the need. Just 10 miles from our beautiful church campus is
this facility in the midst of poverty, despair, homelessness, hunger and
pain. Without the financial and physical efforts of Bath Church and
other area churches, this project would quickly fail. They truly need
our help in the form of works, dollars and prayers.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HOME
VISITS ARE UNDERWAY - More than 50 fellow members have volunteered
their time as Ambassadors and Leaders in a massive effort to visit every
member household of Bath Church.
In the next few weeks you
should expect to hear from an Ambassador. Please open your doors,
your minds and your hearts to this volunteer. If you are not
contacted by October 29th, please alert us so we can rectify the
oversight and get your pledge package to you. Our goal is to have
all pledges in by November 15th.
If you are a seasonal
resident and will be leaving soon for a warmer winter climate, please
contact the church so we can schedule the Ambassador’s visit before you
leave.
CHURCH PHONE DIRECTORIES
AVAILABLE TODAY in the narthex. Please advise the church office of
any corrections or additions 330-666-3520 or bathucc@bathucc.org.
MADELINE MACNEIL CD's
from her Bath Church performance are available in the Church office and
in the Narthex between services. Madeline graciously allowed us to
record her concert at Bath Church on September 22nd. We have CD's
available for $10 each with 100% of the proceeds going to Royal Family
Kids Camp for 2008. |

WE NEED SUNDAY MORNING HOSTS,
AND HOSTESSES...It’s time to sign up for our Sunday AM coffee hour. The
sign up sheet for Fall is in the servery kitchen. A class in making coffee
in our pots will be held between services in early October. This is a
wonderful ministry and a way to meet new friends. Thanks! Joan Mockbee,
Martha Salem, & Shirley Taylor
CLOTHING DRIVE: September &
October Sunday School Mission Project: Join us in providing gently used
clothing, shoes, boots and coats for the children and youth who stay
temporarily at Harvest Home (Haven of Rest). Bins for donations will be
placed on both floors of the main Christian Education wing. What a great
incentive to go through your kid’s clothes and donate the ones they’ve
outgrown.
